The Ask: Establish a rich asset library for Apple Vision Pro containing re-branded and re-designed components to be used for HBO Max.
Designing for Vision Pro
When creating assets for the Apple Vision Pro version of HBO Max at Warner Bros. Discovery, I began by researching the design principles of visionOS, focusing on the platform’s “eyes and hands” interaction model and accessibility guidelines. I tested early builds through TestFlight to understand how users interact with spatial interfaces and to validate design decisions in context. I also followed platform best practices such as avoiding overwhelming motion, maintaining stable visual reference points, and supporting indirect gestures, while leveraging Apple’s VisionOS UI kits and templates to ensure the assets aligned with native spatial design patterns.
It started with developing the visual system for interaction materials and typography tailored to visionOS. A key part of the process involved reviewing the HBO Max platform’s existing TV/mobile components and navigation patterns and translating them into visionOS, adapting layouts, motion, and hierarchy to work naturally in a AR environment. By testing builds through TestFlight, I iterated on how navigation and playback would feel in spatial computing while maintaining consistency with the HBO Max design system.
Building Blocks
The next step was to build out an HBO Max component library for VisionOS. Redesign existing design system assets to better fit the new aesthetic and interaction behaviour.

Using the Vision Pro asset library I helped develop, I created concept videos that explores immersive viewing environments for HBO Max within visionOS. Drawing from the rich catalog of characters, worlds, and stories from Warner Bros. Discovery, the motion pieces demonstrate how iconic IP could shape the atmosphere and spatial experience of the platform. The video combines interface elements, motion assets, and cinematic visuals to present a cohesive vision for how users might discover and watch content in a more immersive way. The final renders were built using Adobe After Effects.
It all begins with an idea.
Motion concept for an immersive environment intended for the Apple Vision Pro, utilizing the Dune brand and showcasing a day and night cycle.
Make it stand out.
Another immersive environment motion concept. This time with the Harry Potter brand, showcasing a reflective water surface in addition to the day and night cycle.
Research
Research
I began the project by researching how immersive environments function on Apple Vision Pro, studying how visionOS presents native spatial scenes and transitions between apps and environments. I also reviewed how competing streaming platforms approach immersive viewing to understand different interaction patterns and levels of environmental storytelling. These insights helped inform how an immersive experience for HBO Max could feel both intuitive within the system and distinct through the use of Warner Bros. Discovery’s cinematic worlds
Proposed Final Flow
Building on my research into Apple Vision Pro and how immersive environments function within visionOS, as well as how competing streaming platforms structure similar experiences, I created a flow chart mapping how users move in and out of environments in HBO Max. The diagram distilled these insights into a clear interaction model, illustrating a more refined and intuitive flow for entering immersive spaces, navigating content, and returning to the core app experience. This helped communicate a proposed system that makes environment interactions easier to understand and more seamless for users.
Project GreenliT
After defining the interaction model, I created a motion concept video using our Apple Vision Pro design system and Adobe After Effects to visualize how immersive environments could work within HBO Max. The video demonstrated the full experience—from entering an environment to navigating and watching content—helping stakeholders clearly see the potential of spatial storytelling. The concept ultimately helped secure approval to build the first environment inspired by Hogwarts Legacy, leading to a successful launch and more approved environments.
